Alagadi Turtle Beach is located in the Esentepe region, 16 km from Kyrenia. 400 m from the main road. This sandy beach stretches for several kilometers along the coast. A beautiful clean beach far from civilization, a great place for secluded relaxation, swimming and walking along the sea.

This magnificent beach is primarily a protected environmental area - the famous Cypriot Sea Turtles nests here - the red-listed Green turtle (Chelonia Mydas) and the big-headed Loggerhead (Caretta caretta). You can see the birth of a new turtle life between June and August. The turtles swim to the coast every year and at the end of May, beginning of June, they come ashore with only one purpose - to leave offspring. They dig holes in the sand and lay their eggs and then hide in the sea, this happens during the night. Just like the baby turtles when they hatch

Construction is prohibited around the beach, there is no electricity , there is no beach infrastructure and traditional water attractions. There are many metal “baskets” on the beach in summer that protect turtle nests from accidental damage. The beach area is a nature conservation area, so you will have to take with you everything you need for relaxation - sunbeds and umbrellas. Despite the lack of electricity, there is a fish restaurant on the Alagadi turtle beach, powered by a generator. Here they sell drinks, all kinds of snacks, and prepare freshly caught bream fish, sea bass and other fish.

The sandy beach is divided into three bays by quaint sandstone cliffs, ideal for leisurely walks and secluded relaxation, ideal for swimming and snorkeling, one of the few places where you can see turtles in the summer. It is an open beach for everyone, any day of the week. However, between June and October, when the sea turtle egg laying season continues the beach is closed for visitors between 20:00 to 08:00. Only with the consent of the Sea Turtle Conservation Project (MTCP), access to the shore at night is still possible. For this purpose, special groups are organized to monitor turtles together with volunteers.
